a short style story: the morning rush

November 15, 2013
i rarely take a taxi to work in the mornings. normally i walk alexa to school and then catch the subway uptown. today i had phone calls to make and, believe it or not, the best and sometimes only time i can find to catch up on phone calls is in a cab. which means that i technically pay for time on my own to do this–sounds pretty crazy but you do what you have to when life is busy. a friend of mine and i often joke that we have to take taxis just to place a diaper and grocery order. eek!
my initial plan this morning was to do another style stories post… take alexa out to breakfast, etc, but it was so cold and we were delayed due to an “i don’t want to wear a jacket” meltdown. ps. i had no idea it was possible for a jacket or buttons to be scary, but apparently they are to a 3 year old. so, since we went through the trouble of trying to get out the door for some photos, i thought i would post a couple.
i am in love with my green coat... it is one of my favorite pieces i got when i worked for oscar de la renta (#tbt george and ruby!!). the best part about it is that it is very lightweight and warm. while oscar de la renta pieces are an investment, they are always impeccably made and will never go out of style… and, as they say, oscar does the best greens.

you can’t really see my dress, it is one of my favorite new “go-to” work dresses. i love the pop of blue and it fits like a glove.

as far as accessories go, here is the breakdown: a lilla.p jacquard circle scarf, an oscar de la renta red leather tote and saint laurent black patent heels.

i wish you could see alexa’s adorable zebra print jersey dress from h&m paired with her black tights and mocassins. she and hayden both have the same oscar de la renta children’s duffle coat, his is navy and hers is red… the best part is that they are unisex so he can wear hers next year.
