i’ve been meaning to share this post for awhile now… life has been a bit crazy and my to do seems to only grow in length. a couple weeks back i hosted a small gathering, with some of my favorite mamas and their kids, at hiho batik, a super cool little art space in park slope.
the event could not have been cuter! we were a packed house with kids from the age of baby to 6 years old (thanks naomi and josh for making the huge trek all the way from the upper west side with a newborn in tow!). the kids chose t-shirts, the babies got onesies and the mamas got tote bags to decorate. we all drew/sketched what we wanted on our pieces and then the ladies at hiho helped us learn how to batik–you will have to go there and experience it for yourself, but it was very cool.
aside from the art of batiking, the kids also decorated cookies… hayden ate one too many apparently because he was a total wild man for the rest of the day! clearly i was doing too much socializing and not paying enough attention to what he was up to! when we asked him how many cookies he had eaten he said FOUR.
i’m definitely bookmarking this spot for a future party… maybe even for my own birthday party. a boozy batik party sounds kida fun too!
