paradise in palm springs

May 2, 2017

last month we took a trip to palm springs, california for our friend’s wedding — it was a much needed adult-only getaway. i had been to palm springs once before for a work trip, but it was definitely a treat to be there for a short vacation and even more so for the wedding where we were surrounded by a group of our closest friends so we were in constant party mode. the kids stayed home in brooklyn with my mom which made the overall trip pretty much perfect.

a road trip to palm springs wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the cabazon dinosaurs… it’s not much more than a photo op, but it is a worthy photo op — definitely a good instagram opportunity to say the least.

the wind turbines are a site to be seen. the first wind turbine went up in 1980 -— and it was part of the first wind farm in the nation -— and now 2,700 windmill-like devices line the pass, creating enough energy to power 300,000 homes. pretty cool.

welcome to paradise in the desert –– the parker palm springs.

we spent most of our time chilling by the adults only pool enjoying margaritas all day long, but i will note that for those of you that want to travel here with kids there was an awesome family pool as well.

the lemonade stand was a boozy meetup spot throughout the trip… it is also the spot where one can borrow bikes and ride around town.

the girls had to get a poolside photo — obviously. whether the success of this photo was worth the embarressment we caused ourselves trying to take it is still up for debate.

the parker features decor by designer jonathan adler. the decor is is chic, refined and modern. there’s a great bistro, a diner called norma’s, a drinks lounge and a hidden speakeasy.

we found this little spot called felipe’s in a strip mall and it was delicious! after spending 20 bucks per drink at the parker a cheap margarita and tacos hit the spot!

playing tennis was a highlight of the trip –– i should note that nate and i don’t play tennis. we did not do well, but we had a lot of fun… mostly, we just wanted to wear tennis whites.

the magical rehearsal dinner was at frank sinatra’s house. not only was the evening perfect, but to walk in the footsteps of frank was epic.

michaela and david could not have looked happier or more gorgeous. it was pretty fun to have such a big crew from rag & bone together to celebrate them.

the after party was on point… and lasted till the wee hours of the morning. getting up at 8am to head back to los angeles to catch our flight was not fun, but the memories were worth it.
