a day trip to bath

June 26, 2017

in the past year or so i have been lucky enough to travel to england for work quite a bit. i don’t love being gone from home without the kids for too long, but i have to admit i do enjoy little trips here and there. recently i had to be in england for a week for work and i decided to live up every moment of it. as luck would have it, one of my best girl friends, kristine, is living there for work right now so we made a LOT of plans. aside from going out, catching a show (if you have the opportunity to see angels in america do it, it was outstanding!), we also went on a day trip to bath… it was enchanting.

i’m not going to list all the image details below because it is just worth it to take a day trip there to explore. i will say that my favorite part was laying under the trees while my friend matt read kristine and i’s auras… also that amazing wine bar that SHOULD NOT BE MISSED… also the midnight ride back to england that ended with mcdonalds happy meals… as all midnight rides should. xx

take me out to the ball game

June 12, 2017

we recently took the kids to their first baseball game ever–the mets versus the pirates! nate and i are mets fans… even though that is only truly because we have never been to a yankees game. not necessarily by choice, but because it always seems to work out that we make it to a mets game versus a yankees game, therefore we have become mets fans. we both grew up in atlanta so we are historically braves fans, but we have since transitioned away from the tomahawk chop.

the kids were so excited about the night’s game. we were too, although a 7:30pm game seemed a bit ambitious with these 3, but we decided to tackle it.  Continue Reading…

happy birthday alexa!

May 22, 2017

i can’t believe this girl is already seven years old. how did that go by so fast? it seems like yesterday we were celebrating her rock n roll two-year-old birthday party on the west side highway! dance parties are a theme, clearly. two years ago we celebrated at this very same spot–downtown dance factory. she loved it so much she asked to go back this year… nate and i were both fully onboard as they make dance parties SO easy for the parents. paradise in palm springs

May 2, 2017

CALIFORNIA BABY

last month we took a trip to palm springs, california for our friend’s wedding — it was a much needed adult-only getaway. i had been to palm springs once before for a work trip, but it was definitely a treat to be there for a short vacation and even more so for the wedding where we were surrounded by a group of our closest friends so we were in constant party mode. the kids stayed home in brooklyn with my mom which made the overall trip pretty much perfect.

a road trip to palm springs wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the cabazon dinosaurs… it’s not much more than a photo op, but it is a worthy photo op — definitely a good instagram opportunity to say the least.

it’s been awhile…

April 10, 2017

it’s been awhile, i know. when people ask me if i still blog i kind of shrug and feel a little guilty. the truth is, life with three and my job has kind of taken over any of my free time. i’ve honestly relied on instagram to tell everyday stories… i feel like for many people, instagram has become more powerful than blogs used to be. when i do have free time, i tend to want to shut off and watch tv shows with nate and not thing. i’m actually watching season two of the americans right now, and not fully paying attention which just means i will have to watch the episode again–ugh. (it is amazing… our new favorite show!)

anyway, i thought i would do a recap of the past couple of months… quick, but bringing me back up to date.  Continue Reading…

feed projects: the mini bag

December 7, 2016

i’m sure most of you have heard about FEED projects, but if not, check them out… especially worthwhile for gifting this time of year. it was started by lauren bush lauren with the simple idea of creating products that engage people in the fight against hunger. every product is stamped with the number of meals that are provided with its purchase–pretty great.

nate and i are big fans of FEED so we were especially thrilled to be a part of the launch of their mini feed bag for kids… as pictured on alexa in the photos within this post. be sure to check out the interview they did with us on the feed site… we think its pretty sweet.  (also, a cool side note is that nate shoots for them quite a bit, check out some of his work here.) our adventures abroad…

November 26, 2016

nmk_6244

normally, it takes me a bit to gather images and document a trip, but i felt it necessary to immediately write about our adventure to germany because, if i didn’t, i would potentially forget/block from my memory some of the dirty details. for those of you who follow me on instagram you are probably thinking it was a dreamy getaway with family… some of you may even have thought what rockstars we were for taking on this adventure… well, sorry to say we had you fooled. not intentionally of course, but simply because i didn’t photograph the doctors visit, the 24 hour stomach viruses and all the chaotic travel scenarios. i kinda wish i would have at least documented it on snapchat, but the truth is i didn’t have enough hands to manage that or enough time between each scenario! so… here goes, our 2016 german adventure, in all its glory…. life on the farm

October 29, 2016

nmk_5515
i was trying to divide up this post into multiple posts, but time is not on my side these days. you know that thing called “mom brain” that happens post baby… well, mine is back. i feel like i can’t even remember people’s names lately. for some reason this fall has been the busiest of my life yet. it is a combo of my job, rowan and the kid’s school. between my work emails and the school emails that fill up my inbox everyday its enough to make anyone go a little nutty. on that note, i would like to make special request to the powers that be at the kids school–for those of us with TWO kids in the same school, it would be great if everything was prefaced with what grade/child the letter, email, etc is for. its hard enough to remember it all and then to remember what teacher said what or what letter wad for who!! AH.

anyway, this post is meant to be about our lovely time away at stony creek farmstead, so here we go… hoping no one will mind my photographic narrative (thanks nathan for taking all the beautiful photos as usual)! if you have any questions about the stay, shoot me a note at marissakrax@gmail! all i gotta say is, plan a trip there next spring–it is so lovely.

also, an important tip: bring rainboots or wellies
