life on the farm

October 29, 2016

i was trying to divide up this post into multiple posts, but time is not on my side these days. you know that thing called “mom brain” that happens post baby… well, mine is back. i feel like i can’t even remember people’s names lately. for some reason this fall has been the busiest of my life yet. it is a combo of my job, rowan and the kid’s school. between my work emails and the school emails that fill up my inbox everyday its enough to make anyone go a little nutty. on that note, i would like to make special request to the powers that be at the kids school–for those of us with TWO kids in the same school, it would be great if everything was prefaced with what grade/child the letter, email, etc is for. its hard enough to remember it all and then to remember what teacher said what or what letter wad for who!! AH.

anyway, this post is meant to be about our lovely time away at stony creek farmstead, so here we go… hoping no one will mind my photographic narrative (thanks nathan for taking all the beautiful photos as usual)! if you have any questions about the stay, shoot me a note at marissakrax@gmail! all i gotta say is, plan a trip there next spring–it is so lovely.

also, an important tip: bring rainboots or wellies

third child #fomo

October 26, 2016

rowan is never going to sit on the side lines waiting for the action to come to him… i’m not totally sure what all the characteristics of a third child entail, but rowan seems to definitely have the outgoing attention-seeker bit down. he wants to be a part of all the fun always–whether its bath time, reading time or pretty much anything else, rowan wants to be involved. he suffers from major “fomo.” :)

art for a special cause

October 16, 2016

i’ve shared about plum print before–the super easy way to archive your kids artwork–but, now i wanted to share about plum print marketplace… specifically because alexa’s art is on display and for sale! the plum print marketplace enables artists, of all ages, to sell products featuring their unique creations. artists receive royalties to benefit a favorite charity, an education fund, a growing career, or even a toy wish list! sales from alexa’s art are benefiting the good+ foundation (formally baby buggy). check out her artwork below–and shop for a good cause! so proud of my little artist!

sweet greetings

September 28, 2016

every since alexa and hayden could crawl/walk, they have always greeted me at the door when i get home from work. its always been the best feelings and one of my favorite parts of my day… now that they are “big kids” they are often busy playing games or they decide to hide so that i come and find them (which is super cute too). now rowie has taken the lead in the role as “mommy’s door greeter” and it is absolutely priceless to see him crawling fast as he can till i can sweep him up into my arms. 2016.8.22&23-Old Navy-52769_1
the kids and i were at nate’s studio on friday so we decided to do a little impromptu photo session with rowie… he has a lot of energy these days so sitting still on set wasn’t going so well, but nate captured some pretty amazing pictures nonetheless. Continue Reading…

my friend katie had a brilliant idea… she showed up to hayden’s birthday last year with two disposable cameras, one for alexa and one for hayden. the kids thought it was such a novelty to have their own littler cameras. somehow we forgot about the cameras for months and months and recently, nate developed the film. i am kind of obsessed with how the pictures turned out… Continue Reading…

desk ready #backtoschool

now that alexa and hayden are older our cute little “art table” doesn’t quite cut it anymore. i replaced it with a desk system–it really felt like the passing of an era. especially as the kids are starting school now and since alexa will be in first grade i have feeling homework is in our future! (at least i am not saying good bye to the little art table, i am saving it for rowan now!)

after much deliberating on the right desk system (and many hours on pinterest) i ended up choosing an industrial wall desk unit for the kids from restoration hardware. Continue Reading…
